Acting Assistant Director of Community Development
Jennifer Hiramoto joined the City of Glendale in 2015, and serves as Deputy Director of Community – Economic Development. In this capacity, she is responsible for overseeing the Economic Development Division's strategic planning efforts, with an emphasis on business services, attraction, community outreach, and asset management. Jennifer joins the team with 10 years in economic development experience, and five years in the private sector as a newspaper reporter. Prior to working at the City of Glendale, she worked in the cities of Ontario and Monrovia, as well as at the San Gabriel Valley Economic Partnership. She specializes in developing and implementing
collaborative economic development and public relations strategies. Jennifer earned a Masters of Public Administration from the University of Southern California in 2011, and obtained her Bachelor's Degree from San Jose State University. She is a Board Member on the Downtown Glendale Association, and volunteers as an Advisor to the Youth & Government Program with the YMCA of Glendale.
Economic Development Coordinator
Jacqueline Sales joined the Economic Development Team in 2001. In her current capacity as the Economic Development Coordinator, she serves as the liaison to the neighborhood business districts, the business improvement districts (BID), and all Glendale small businesses by providing business assistance and concierge services. She was instrumental in the expansion and relocation of various key businesses in Glendale such as BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse, Panera Bread, Infiniti, and Pacific BMW. Ms. Sales has over 25 years of municipal government experience with the Cities of Agoura Hills and Glendale. She earned her Bachelors Degree in Public Administration from the University of Southern California.
Economic Development Coordinator
Ani Pogossian started her career with the City of Glendale's Redevelopment Agency/Economic Development in 2011. In her current role as Economic Development Coordinator, Ani serves as
the business services liaison for the
Downtown Glendale Association, manages the two new Accelerator Operators in the City of Glendale and their contracts, leads Glendale Tech efforts, serves as the division's budget and financial liaison, and continues efforts with proactive business outreach. Ani earned her Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from California State University - Northridge (CSUN) and holds a Masters in Public Administration from CSUN.
Neighborhood Services Supervisor
Juan Gonzalez joined the Economic Development Team in 2019 and serves as the senior member of the Community Outreach team. In this capacity, he is responsible for developing and implementing
outreach campaigns, organizing community meetings and special events, producing print and video communications, and collaborating with business and community groups supporting Economic Development initiatives. Juan joins the team with nearly 25 years of community outreach experience with the City of Glendale. He served as Project Manager for the “Be Street Smart Glendale” safety education campaign, implemented community gardens on vacant parcels of land, organized in-school education programming, and led the efforts to obtain California Healthy City and Keep America Beautiful affiliate status for Glendale. Mr. Gonzalez earned his Bachelor's Degree in Art from California State University at Northridge.
Sandra Rodríguez joined the City of Glendale in 2002. She currently serves as the Program Coordinator for the Community Development Department (CDD). She is responsible for managing the department's marketing, media and
public relations efforts. Some of her duties include, project management, digital content creation and management, social media marketing, video production, media relations and creative direction. She currently handles the department's marketing needs relating to economic development, business attraction, Glendale Tech Week, planning, urban design & mobility, affordable housing and building & safety/permit services. Sandra has over 20 years of experience working in the public sector, having worked with the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors prior to coming to the City of Glendale. She majored in Political Science at the University of Southern California.
Business Outreach Liaison
John Bandek joined the Economic Development Team in 2019 as the Division's Marketing Intern. In 2021, John advanced his career at the City by promoting to Economic Development Administrative Assistant.
Hourly City Worker
Sevak Dishoian joined the Economic Development Division in 2018 as a Glendale Youth Alliance youth worker. Currently, Sevak supports the Division's customer service and marketing teams. He is involved in graphic design projects, website content management and assists with several economic development projects. Sevak is in his junior year at Glendale Community College and is a proud graduate of Hoover High School.
In this role, John serves as a business outreach liaison between private sector business owners, public and not-for-profit institutions, businesses, community leaders, and City of Glendale staff. He is responsible for developing, writing, editing, and producing promotional and marketing materials for print, social media, and other platforms to create public awareness of the division's work, progress, and programs. John is also responsible for assisting with developing and implementing business attraction, retention, and expansion strategies. John will graduate from Pepperdine University in the Summer of 2021 with a Bachelor's of Science in Management. He will pursue his education at Pepperdine's Graziadio Business School by obtaining a Master's of Business Administration in 2022.
Principal Development Officer
Mark Berry has over 20 years of experience in municipal government with the cities of Burbank and Glendale. Mark started in Glendale in 2001 as a Project Manager with the former Glendale Redevelopment Agency. He specializes in the planning, entitlement, and implementation of complex development projects and provides support to small businesses as part of the City's business attraction and retention programs. During his tenure in Glendale, Mark has been responsible for managing a number of high profile projects including; the Americana at Brand, the Masonic Temple adaptive reuse, the Laemmle Lofts , the Glendale Galleria renovation, Bloomingdales, and a number of mixed-use and commercial projects in Downtown Glendale. Mark holds a Masters of Public Administration and a Masters of Urban Planning from the University of Southern California, and also has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from California State University, Fullerton.
Karen Khukoyan began his career in the City of Glendale in 2010. In 2019, he joined the City's Economic Development Business Concierge team, where he currently provides one-on-one assistance to businesses ranging from mom-and-pop shops to major corporations. Through this role, Karen assists businesses with site selection and the permit process. He is responsible for projects ranging from Paperback Brewery Co., to Bea Bea's. Karen holds a Bachelors of Science in Business Management from California State University -- Los Angeles.
